Tiger Woods was teeing off today in a Major with the lead after 54 holes. He was 14 of 14 in winning the golf tournament. Today Tiger's streak is done. Y.E. Yang, spelled out Youn-eun, a 37 year old South Korean, tamed the Tiger on Sunday at Hazeltine National Golf Club. It is the second time he has beaten Tiger. He did it in 2006 in an event in China called the WGC-HSBC Champions. While Tiger did not win, the question remains. Did Tiger lose it or did Y.E. Yang win it? Many will say this is a great day for golf. That some parody for the sport is good. Tiger not winning a major is good. No it is not. Tiger is to Golf as Notre Dame is to College Football. It is just a better sport when they are in the hunt. I do not deny that Y. E. Yang is not a great story. It would have been a fantastic story for Lefty or David Duval to win the U. S Open. It was just not the same as Tiger being in the hunt for a trophy. Tiger is a rare athlete. Micheal Jordan, Jerry Rice, Tiger Woods. These individuals made you wonder if they were from another planet. You always knew when it was crunch time, they could do something that you will never see again. That is what made them different. That is what made them special.
